Description   A dual function instrument that combines the proven two-pin inspection method with a new non-invasive radio frequency technique. The result is a new moisture meter for rapid and thorough inspection of buildings for dampness on and below a surface. In 1955 the original Protimeter Surveymaster was the first moisture meter in the world designed for surveying buildings. It has been enormously successful and thousands are still in daily use today. The new SURVEYMASTER SM combines the facilities of the original moisture meter with a new non-destructive measurement of dampness of a structure at depth. This enables the user to evaluate damp conditions not only at the surface but also below the surface of a wall quickly and non-destructively. The new instrument combines all the advantages of the original Survey-master with the new non-invasive Search Mode. This easy-to-use instrument employs two electronic circuits: The first is for the conventional two-pin method which shows whether a surface is dry, damp or wet. This is known as the Measure Mode. The second is based on radio frequency emissions with the electronics located in a “bulge” at the back of the instrument. It is capable of measuring moisture through many wall and floor coverings and ceramic tiles. This is known as the Search Mode. The Benefits of Dual Mode Operations: By surveying a wall using both the Search and Measure modes a more detailed assessment can be obtained than would be possible with a conventional moisture meter alone. The features and benefits of each mode ate outlined below: For the Measure Mode the meter has a socket for a two-pin head-andlead (for awkward corners) and a set of Deep Wall Probes (insulated but for their tips) for the measurement of moisture conditions of a wall regardless of surface dampness and surface contamination by salts. It is also possible to plug in the optional Hammer Electrode for the measurement at depth of the moisture content of wood and possibly of floor joists of suspended floors without lifting floor boards. For the Search Mode, in order to accommodate the sophisticated RFE electronics, there is a “bulge” at the back of the meter. For an instant display of degrees of dampness below a surface, this is simply held against, and in contact with, the wall. In the Search Mode the meter has a user adjustable AUDIBLE ALARM emitting a variable tone depending on the level of moisture. The incorporation of an audible tone means you can identify areas of concern even when you cannot see the LED scale e.g. at height and around corners.
